You chose glass to get away from plastic. Then the lid arrived — and it's plastic, pressed against your food every single time you close the container.
It's the standard setup across the category. A borosilicate or soda-lime glass body, and then a polypropylene lid that sits directly on the food. BPA-free, yes. Still plastic, also yes.
And it isn't only about the material. A plastic lid warps in the dishwasher. It holds odours from last week's curry. It clouds over time. The glass body outlives it by years, and then you're buying a new set because the lids gave up.
We thought that was backwards. If the point of glass is that nothing else touches your food, the lid is the one part where it matters most.
Our glass-lid models put a tempered glass panel where your food actually sits, with a food-grade silicone gasket doing the sealing. The polypropylene frame and latch clips sit outside the seal.

Our lids are liquid-tight in normal upright use — they hold soup, sauce and dressing without leaking as long as the container stays level. They are not vacuum seals, and they are not designed to be carried on their side or upside down.
For transport, keep the container upright in a bag or lunch box. If you need liquid that survives being tipped over, use a screw-top jar.
This is a lid designed to be opened thousands of times without the latch failing — not a lid designed to survive being dropped. Both things cannot be true at once, and we picked the one that matters in a kitchen.

That matters for one specific reason: a glass lid has to be tempered and ground to a tolerance tight enough that a silicone gasket can seat against it reliably, thousands of times, without failing. That is not a process a trading company can spec and buy. It is one we run ourselves.

On the models on this page, yes — the food-facing surface of the lid is a tempered glass panel. The silicone gasket does the sealing, and the polypropylene frame and latch clips sit outside the seal, doing the mechanical work. If you want a lid with no glass panel at all, that is our silicone-sealed range, sold separately.
The glass body is oven safe to 950°F (510°C). Take the lid off first — the lid is not oven-safe. Do not let the glass touch the oven floor, the element or the wall, and never use the broiler with the container under it.
Not in one move. The glass is rated to 950°F and to -4°F, but its thermal shock limit is 216°F (120°C) — the difference in temperature it can absorb at once. Going from -4°F into a 400°F oven is a 404°F jump and past the limit.
Let the container stand at room temperature until it is no longer frosty, or put it in a cold oven and let it heat up alongside the oven.

Yes — glass body and lid, top rack, water up to 176°F (80°C). We recommend switching off the high-heat dry cycle, since repeated heat cycles are what eventually loosen the silicone gasket. Do not use steel wool, abrasive pads or strong acid cleaners on the glass.
The glass will not — it is non-porous. Wash promptly after strongly coloured or pungent foods like curry or tomato sauce, since leaving them to sit can mark the surface. The silicone gasket is the part that can pick up an odour over time; it is replaceable.
Because the lid has to be tempered, ground to a tolerance, and fitted with a gasket groove — and because the glass body will outlast every plastic lid you have ever owned. We would rather sell you one set than three.
